Sourdough Biscuits
Ingredients
1 1/2 cups all purpose flour
2 tablespoons sugar
3 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 cup shortening (melted)
1 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 cups sourdough starter
1 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
Directions
Place flour in a large bowl and make a well in the center. Add starter to the well, then add melted shortening and remaining ingredients. Mix lightly and turn onto floured work surface. Knead dough until the consistency of bread dough. Roll out dough to 1/2 to 3/4 inch thickness. Using biscuit cutter dipped in flour, cut out biscuits. Place biscuits in greased pan and brush with melted butter. Cover with clean cloth dusted with flour and let rise for 1/2 hour. Bake in a 425 degree oven for 15 to 20 minutes.
